BUDDHA BEATS 85-PEAK/HYPNOTIC TECHNO MIX

ABOUT THE MIX:

I have had a good start to 2023 so far, and this month’s mix just added to it! I do my very best to bring you tracks that have energy. Some have a claustrophobic feel, some are spacious, and others have both. But how many give you a feeling of ecstasy, dread, AND urgency within the same mix?

I had recently watched (for the umpteenth time) the Alien movies, and I remember having an old techno rave track that took snippets from the Aliens (the second) movie. It was fun, and you could certainly get your groove on when it came on back the 1990s, but it felt slow by today’s relentless speed. I had even tried making my own Aliens game using HyperCard on the Mac back in the day. I had all the audio clips, animation and everything. It was a really fun project.

But I hadn’t attempted writing a song that encapsulated what it would be like to be someone put into that same situation as Ellen Ripley (played by the lovely Sigouney Weaver) in the first movie, Alien. The Xenomorph that we all picture when somone even says the word “alien” shook people so much when that first movie came out. Myself included.

This mix, is based on the vision of what Ripley’s last hour on the Nostromo would have sounded like through tracks from Boatech, Fatima Hajji, Flug, Jack Master, and myself with the premiere of my latest track “Anomaly”, with the last six minutes to get to the escape pod.
